Dan’s new woodwind quintet, The Quest, was recently premiered by five of Los Angeles’s top studio musicians at a concert of music by members of the American Society of Music Arrangers and Composers (ASMAC). Listen to an excerpt of The Quest on the music page.

In December of 2017, Dan’s score for Death on Arrival, by Go Go Guppie Productions, was nominated for Best Musical Score in the 2017 Los Angeles 48 Hour Film Holiday Project. Death on Arrival, screening along with the other award-winning films at the TCL Chinese Theatre, took home the awards for Best Actress, Best Writing, Best Use of Character, Audience Award, and Best Film Runner-Up.

Dan recently composed The Creative Spirit, a choral work commissioned by Wyoming Seminary, his high school alma mater, to celebrate the dedication of the school’s new Kirby Center for the Creative Arts. The Hunter, Dan’s piece for solo cello and cello choir was recently premiered at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

Dan recently wrote a score to accompany The Land Beyond the Sunset, a 1912 silent film telling the story of a poor boy who experiences life outside the slums for the very first time. Edison’s film studio produced this poignant film in collaboration with the Fresh Air Fund, an organization that has provided free summer vacations to underprivileged children since 1877. In March of 2017, The Vineyard Touring Opera Company orchestra premiered this score live, synchronized with a screening of the film.
